Hi, I'm Marc: Where Curiosity Meets Design
I'm a Senior UX Designer and Researcher who believes the best solutions come from asking the right questions – and then actually listening to the answers.

My Journey: From Code to Curiosity
My path to UX wasn't traditional, and that's exactly what makes it powerful. I started in computer science in Germany, but my curiosity led me across continents – from exchange programs in Venezuela to studies in Spain, and finally to graduate school in the US where I discovered my true calling in graphic design and user experience.
This international perspective taught me something crucial: people's needs and behaviors vary dramatically based on context, culture, and circumstance. It's a lesson that shapes every project I touch.
What I Do Differently
My natural curiosity drives me to understand not just what users want, but why they want it – and more importantly, how our solutions will actually fit into their existing world.
At AWS, I served as an Innovation Specialist, but my proudest achievement came from establishing a comprehensive UX research framework within the consulting practice. The result? A significant surge in customer and partner demand, because we finally understood what they actually needed.
Here's what I've learned: Every project pivots when you put ideas in front of real users. That's why I advocate for customer research at every opportunity – not because it's trendy, but because it prevents us from building beautiful solutions to problems that don't exist.
How I Work
My colleagues and customers consistently describe me as thoughtful and empathetic, with a knack for bringing humor to even the most challenging situations. I work thoroughly because I believe good design requires understanding all the moving pieces – how will this integrate with existing systems? What behaviors will it require people to change? What might go wrong?
This systematic approach comes from my computer science background, but it's tempered by genuine empathy for the humans who will ultimately use what we create.
What Drives Me
I'm energized by enabling others. Whether I'm mentoring early-career designers, coaching sports teams, or helping exchange students navigate new cultures, my goal is always the same: providing people with the information and capabilities they need to achieve their goals.
In UX, this translates to creating solutions that don't just work – they empower. Every interface I design, every research study I conduct, every framework I establish is ultimately about giving people access to what they need, when they need it.
If you want to learn more about working with me and what makes me tick, I put together this Manual of Me that gives a better overview.
